Get Involved | Stewardship Stewardship The goal of Stewardship is to serve the people of the Christ Church as they seek to restore the wholeness of God's creation by connecting them to creative and innovative resources needed to transform congregational life. Our resources are all grounded in the Biblical understanding of stewardship as a way of life, a way to live out our baptismal identities in the firm knowledge that we belong to God and to God's purpose. Stewardship teaches that all that we have and all that we are is a gift from God. We are, therefore, stewards of God's gifts during our lifetime. When we accept our lives as sheer gifts, and all that we have as gifts, the Holy Spirit leads us into a faithful response of how we use our gifts (our money, time, passions, and abilities) to grow God's reign. Two hallmarks of the work of the Holy Spirit are joy and gratitude. As a community of faith, we gather to explore, discern, pray, and nurture one another in becoming joyful and grateful stewards.
LIVING GENEROUSLY 2017
“With God's help, we strive to embody the unbounded love of Jesus Christ. Sustained by the Holy Spirit on our journey of faith, we offer hospitality, healing and hope.”
Our Core Values
Inclusivity and Fellowship
It is in fellowship with other people that we truly experience God. Many are drawn because of our open hearts and minds.
Youth and Youth Ministry
Our young people renew the Church and keep it alive. When our youth are taught how to follow Christ, they become compassionate adults.
We find deep meaning and joy in outreach. We devote our time, talent, and treasure to improve the lives of those less fortunate.
Hymns and responses resound throughout the sanctuary. From the choir pews, children’s voices share in anthems and motets with the adult choir. Concerts and special services like Evensong and Lessons and Carols, complete the music program.
2017 Budgets and Goals
Operating budget for 2017 is expected to be around $800,000 including all staff, the music program, outreach and Diocesan tithe. Last year, less than 50% of this amount was covered by pledges, plate, and other income.
Demands on our endowment from capital spending have been and continue to be substantial. Although work on the rectory ($140,000), the South Street property ($500,000), and the air conditioning system ($50,000) has been completed, there are several building improvements (sexton’s house $260,000, and stained glass window restoration $250,000) which are ongoing or lie ahead.
The parishioners of Christ Church steadily increased their pledging from $80,000 in 2003 to almost $250,000 in 2015. For 2016, however, pledges declined to $230,000. By increasing our pledge income to cover more of our operating costs, we become more faithful stewards of our endowment.
