St. Hilda's Guild

The women parishioners of Christ Church have formed an outreach group with the goal of sponsoring a variety of fundraisers benefitting local charities. Distinct from our Grants Committee, this Guild’s chosen ministry is to sponsor a few fundraising projects each year to help smaller, perhaps less recognized charitable groups in our local community.  This ministry holds fundraisers such as pre-Thanksgiving Bake Sales,  Winter Soup Sales, Cookie Sales, and a very popular Trivia Night.  Past recipients of the fundraising include The Hood African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Oyster Bay (to procure a new sign for their historic cemetery); Harmony Heights Residential and Day School in East Norwich, serving adolescent girls who have been diagnosed with emotional and behavioral problems; PeerPals.org in Oyster Bay, a charity that matches preschool age children with disabilities with typically developing children in their communities for one-on-one play dates; MOMMAS House, a home for young mothers and their babies, offering compassionate shelter and education, often interrupted by pregnancy and poverty; Bethany House, a not-for-profit organization providing essential resources and care for women, and women with children, experiencing homelessness; Helping Hand Rescue Mission in Huntington Station which operates a food pantry and community closet and other programs; and other local food banks.
